Well, it’s a bit rainy here in Sunny Tucson! Kind of unusual weather for our neck of the woods, but I think we would all agree that it is much needed and very welcome. Not to mention, what a beautiful green city we’re going to have this spring!
My mother, sister, and I are all pretty excited because we like to garden. Ma’s thumb is far greener than mine and my baby sister jokes that her thumb is just plain black! That doesn’t stop us, though! We’ve been reading and researching cool, not so new (but new to us) gardening techniques with high hopes of reaping some eye-appealing and mouth watering rewards.
At the present moment we have tomatos, peppers, zuchinni, and cilantro planted as little seedlings on the back porch of mom’s house. My sister has geraniums planted in her back yard and I have taken little starters from those geraniums and placed them in water-filled glass jars (no worries, recycle and washed jelly jars) with hopes of another geranium generation!
We three have been researching composting, water harvesting and best desert flowers, fruits and veggies. So far we are still primarily in the research stage of that process, but hopefully in the next year or so we can begin to gain some experience!
Shocker, I know, but despite the amount we’ve had as of late, this rain won’t last long! In researching, I ran across this cool little video on smart homes. Maybe not totally garden relevant, but definitely green!
The video below has some really cool “green” tips on water conservation as well as some other “green” ideas. This video takes you on a guided tour of the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry eco-friendly, high-tech smart home. Check it out and let me know what you think!

And, as always, have an awesome day!
